Year ONE!
July 22nd, 2010Hi Guys,
Long time no speak. So Journal Junky is about to turn One. I can hardly believe how quickly this year has flown past. Truly though on reflection I can see that I’ve fit a whole lot in.
From the launch of my Journal Junky Journal Gift Sets in August last year the Journal Junky business has really taken on a life of it’s own.
Shortly after the launch I quickly started discovering how much I didn’t know about sales & marketing. It’s all well and good to have an amazing product, but if people don’t know what’s so great about it then they’re probably not going to buy.
Journal writing has been such a central part of my life for so long, along with my love of personal development that I think I mistakenly thought (assumed) that everyone would see the great benefits of the gift sets I’ve created. Wrong!
What I’ve found over the course of this year is that lots of people don’t really have any idea what journal writing has to offer them or how it can change their lives for the better.
From that has grown the Journal Junky, Journal Writing work shops. This was something I hadn’t expected to be doing at all but I’m really glad I am. They’re fun, always interesting and an amazing way to give people a taste of the power of journal writing, in a hands on way.
Now as well as the Journal Gift Set range I’m also developing a range of work shops. So far I offer Journal writing for wellness, focused on health and happiness in all areas of life. Passions & Purpose, helping people connect to what they Love most and why they’re here. And the latest, DREAM BIG work shop, which helps people to create and capture their highest vision for their ideal life. Awesome stuff!
Through Journal Junky’s first year in business I’ve been blessed to meet some very cool people and to start to become a more active member of my community – both online and on the ground in my home town & home state.
Some high lights have been, being invited by Jeff Guess to speak to a local writers group. Running work shops for the Gawler community house’s women’s group and the Gawler MOPs (mothers of preschoolers) group. Attending the Wallaroo & Springton mind, body, spirit fairs.
And I have especially loved getting to do my first three radio interviews, two on PBA fm, the one for Peachy Voice Radio with Sherina & Silvana was particularly fun. And one with Mary from the Barossa’s triple B fm was also a real honour.
I’ve also held a series of work shops from home and had great responses from all. Work shop high lights would have to be the great bunch of nurses that work with my beautiful sister Emma at the women’s and children’s hospital in Adelaide. Their work shop was great fun; they stayed on for drinks, a dip in the pool (even tho it was freezing!) & a bbq. They also all bought their own Journal Gift Sets on the day, which I Love J Thank you ladies.
You may or may not be aware that 15% of all profit created by Journal Junky Journal Gift Set sales is going to support the Staff & Kids on Newland ward at the W&Childrens’s hospital. I’m really looking forward to making that profit soon and delivering them some $$$ they can use.
I also especially Loved the last work shop I offered on Passions & Purpose. It was such an inspiring thing to see people really connecting to themselves so deeply. The group was so uplifting and supportive of each other. One person said that the message they took away from the day was ‘that’s its OK to be who I am and to do what I Love’. This made me GLOW with gratitude that I have work where my job is to remind people about how great they are and how much they matter. Mmmmm good stuff!
There’s more great people and great things that have happened this year but I don’t want to go on forever so I’ll just say to everyone that has interacted with Journal Junky this year, from shopping with me, attending work shops, working on my website, interacting on facebook, helping me get my message out there, to advising and supporting me I say a BIG FAT HEART FELT THANK YOU. I am so grateful for you all. And I can’t wait to share this next exciting year of my Journal Junky Dream unfolding with you.
Great stuff Soli, so glad that it is happening for you. Journal writing and self-development works shops are difficult to sell as people always tend to leave that till last its is about educating people on the BENEFITS and the usual terminology in any sales is “WHATS IN IT FOR ME’. I wish you all the success for your next year. Hope you have had a chance to catch up with my blog and leave me a comment!
Take care sending virtual hug xx
