Is this a friendly Universe?

Einstein said this is the most important question we can ask ourselves. And as I’ve been pondering this over the last few weeks I’m beginning to understand why.

Really this question asks us….. Do we feel that life is supporting us? Well Journal Junkie??? Do you feel that life is supporting you? This is so worth you taking out your journal and pen and enquiring within.

Our answer to this question is really indicative of our relationship with life. And as I think we’re all aware, good relationships are a nourishing source of all things good. While dodgy relationships, that lack trust and honest authenticity and connection, well they generally deplete us.

In this case I believe the choice is completely up to us. Life can only be what it is. It’s up to US to decide how we relate to and feel about life. If we choose to focus on all the ways that life does support us and is on our side then our relationship is good and nourishing.

If we choose, as I had been till recently, to focus like a petulant child only on the times when we do not get our own way, and so feel jaded by life. Then we’re setting ourselves up for a bumpy and painful ride. A bad relationship with life equals a bad feeling life!

So ask yourself, really, when you check the evidence, is this a friendly Universe? Is life really for you or against you? Over all, is there more good than bad?

What I’m finding as I really wonder is, that life is mostly really good to me. I’ve never gone hungry in my whole life. I’ve had shelter at every stage. More over there’s been and continues to be an abundant supply of fresh air for me. Water for me. And more than that, I’ve even been loved at every stage. I have had and continue to have family and friends that support me at every turn.

Even though not everything has gone exactly as I might have hoped at the time. On reflection the vast majority of my life experience has been one of having all my needs met as well as having lots of my special dreams and wishes come true to boot. So I am concluding that for me, the answer is Yes, this is a friendly Universe.

The challenge for me now is remembering this when things aren’t going my way.
