Update! 2011 Donation Journal Project

August 7th, 2011
Journal Junky adventure

So what’s been happening with the 2011 Journal Donation Project? I know I’ve been a bit quiet on this front. Basically at this time I’ve received 4 donations of Journal junky, journal gift sets, with Journal Junky kicking in a 5th as per our special deal. And I’ve also received 5 lovely new notebooks to support people in need. That’s 10 total.

The plan was to gift them to the Gawler women’s cancer support group. Turns out though that the group hasn’t been formed! Woops. And then I thought maybe I’d gift them through a well known local charity. So I made a call, but I could just feel that they weren’t going to be given to people in the spirit in which they were given.

There’s so much love and kindness in these journal gifts. The wish for someone who’s struggling to really feel loved and supported as they received their journal gift.

So when one of my massage client’s was telling me about how worried she was about her very stressed friend who’s been feeling so low. Inspiration struck and I felt so blessed to be able to pass on one of the beautiful donated journal gift sets as a special sign of love and support for this woman.

I wrote a special letter (see below) to go with the journal gift to let the recipient feel the love that it comes with. Popped the donor’s name inside the journal cover as ‘your journal Angel’, packed it all up and then wrapped it beautifully in pretty purple tissue paper with shiny silver ribbon and delivered it to my client who will gift it to her friend.

So the very first donated journal from the Australian arm of this project is on its way to a very worthwhile home. It’s going to a woman who’s been struggling on her own with two teenage sons. One of who is in trouble with the law. And whose close friend has just committed suicide. And the hope is this journal can be a little spark of light in a dark place to help her start to heal.

I’m excited about the ability of this project to touch people’s lives in such a special way and to provide them a real and useful tool that they’ll have at hand to support them in tough times.

And now the mission is to get the others into the hands of people who need them. Thank you so much to the generous souls who have already kindly donated. If you would like to donate, or if you know someone in or around Gawler SA who could really use the support of a loving journal gift please contact me.
